VPN (Virtual Private Network) is a service that basically hides your real IP address and allows you to connect to the internet through a different IP address. When using this service, a secure tunnel is created by encrypting between your computer and another computer on the other side, and since the data in this tunnel is encrypted, it cannot be viewed from the outside. You will be safe because third parties trying to access your data can only see the encrypted version of this data.

The stronger the encryption process, the more secure your privacy is. To provide complete protection, you must include your entire data flow within this tunnel. Since the communication between them is encrypted, it cannot be determined where you go while surfing the internet, and thus you can access sites that are banned or restricted in a country through this tunnel.

VPN uses many different protocols and technologies together. We can divide VPN into two based on their structure: hardware-based solutions and software-based solutions.

FOR WHAT PURPOSES CAN VPN BE USED?

Initially, VPN was used to ensure the security of communication between institutions. Institutions can ensure their security and privacy by communicating with other institutions or companies with other branches via VPN. However, as online tracking, privacy violations, restrictions and similar problems emerged, it also became the focus of individual users.

We see that in many regions around the world, some online services imposes bans and restrictions on the internet for many reasons. Some of these restrictions lead users to use VPNs to remove these restrictions. VPN services can also prevent tracking by third party services because they encrypt all your traffic on the internet.
